A gas electric automobile will run on both gasoline and electric power. This is considered to be a hybrid vehicle as it uses two types of power. Honda is one auto maker that makes a gas electric automobile. These automobiles get a lot more mileage to the gallon than a car that runs strictly on gasoline and are considered to be better for the environment. Another gas electric automobile is the Chevy Volt, although this has not yet been introduced to be public and is not slated for marketing until 2011. This type of gas electric automobile will run on electric for up to 35 miles and will then switch to gasoline. It is still considered a hybrid gas electric automobile because it runs on both types of energy.
