A hybrid electric automobile runs on both gasoline and electrical power. Electric power is generated from an electric motor. The definition of a hybrid vehicle is one that runs on two forms of energy. In the case of hybrid electric automobiles, most of them use both gasoline and electric energy. One new hybrid electric automobile that is scheduled to be introduced to the public in 2011 is the Chevy Volt. Unlike other hybrid electric automobiles, such as the Honda electric car, this is one hybrid electric automobile that runs strictly on electric power for about 33 miles, at which time it switches to gasoline power. Hybrid electric automobiles not only save on gas, but they are also cleaner for the environment. For more, see www.hybridautomobile.com
